A Thought
We hear a lot of talk about our “true self”. People say things like, “I want to be true to my true self. You know, who I really am.” That sounds beautiful and special and like something we should be encouraging, but then again…is it? What is our “true self” according to Scripture? Well, our true self. The person we are at our core, is a corrupt sinner. Is that who we really want to focus on and try to nurture? God created all things good, but then we fell and now everything and everyone is broken apart from Christ and his grace. Many people remember the Genesis 1-2 stuff, but then forget the Genesis 3 stuff and it’s implications to the rest of history up to today. The whole book of Romans re-emphasizes the fact that all have sinned and fall short of God’s standards. When Christ came, he didn’t come to “open our hearts to our ‘true self’.” Instead, he came to save us FROM our sinful nature by clothing us in his perfection through the waters of baptism and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Praise be to God!

Advent Soup Suppers begin at 5pm and worship begins at 7:30.

Christmas Caroling. Be at the church by 2:45pm so you can join us in sharing God’s Word through song at the local nursing homes. Questions? Just let me know.

Nerf War and Gym Fellowship – From 6-8pm we’re going to have a great time of food and activities in the gymnasium at church. If you have questions, please let me know.
