Members of Immanuel serve our community in a variety of ways throughout the year. Sometimes we do things as a group, and at other times we just encourage and enable members to go out into the community in the areas they see that need assistance.
Our list of service opportunities is always growing, but here are some places to start if you want to serve around Waterloo and the St. Louis area.

Christian Friends of New Americans – This organization is over in St. Louis and offers many ways you can help people who are new to the American culture in the St. Louis area.
Apple of His Eye Ministry – This is a ministry to the Jewish community and is always looking for help in ministry.
Helping Strays – Waterloo Humane Society has many service opportunities.
Camp Wartburg – There are many ways to serve at Camp Wartburg, but you can also help by donating or volunteering at Nice Twice Thrift Shop as well. Camp Wartburg is owned by Lutheran Child and Family Services. Take a look at LCFS for opportunities to serve others through helping at their facility and through adoption and other services.
Unity Lutheran Christian Elementary School – Located in East St. Louis Unity is always looking for support from the local community so they can continue to provide great Lutheran education to local students.
City of Waterloo / Monroe County, Illinois– The city almost always has ways that you can help out around the community.
Life Network of Southern Illinois – This is a pregnancy center that can always use various forms of service as they help young women and couples who are facing difficulty with unexpected and complicated pregnancies.
Laborers for Christ / Lutheran World Relief / Food For the Poor Ministries– Find ways you can serve your neighbors in all of their various needs.

The Southern Illinois District (SID) has a mission school in East St. Louis, IL, and all of the congregations within the SID support this mission. Check out their website to find out how you can help Unity Lutheran Christian Elementary School in East St. Louis, IL.
We also do collections throughout the year for a variety of groups. Here are just a few that we regularly support: Life Network of Southern Illinois, LCMS World Relief and human Care, Camp Wartburg, Immanuel’s Mission Team, LAMP Ministry, Inc, Waterloo Help Network, Christ Our Savior Lutheran High School, Global Lutheran Outreach, Unity Lutheran Christian Elementary School, Lutheran Hour Ministry, Lutheran Braille Workers, Immanuel’s Preschool, Moms on a Mission, Lutheran Child & Family Services, Concordia Seminary Food Bank, Hope Food Pantry, and Immanuel’s Women’s Christian Ministry has ongoing collections for the Monroe County Backpack Program.
