This weekend is the 2nd Sunday after Pentecost and at Immanuel, it is our Outdoor Service.

The Outdoor Service gives us an opportunity to enjoy creation as we hear God’s Word about His continued work leading to the restoration of all creation. We still have a 530 service on Saturday, but our only Sunday morning service will be at 10:15 after the Bible study hour and will be held on the church lawn on the alley side. This weekend, Americans celebrate Memorial Day Weekend. We remember those who have given their lives in the line of duty. How appropriate, then, that on this Sunday in the church year we hear Jesus’ interaction with Nicodemus on a weekend celebrating those who give their lives for others. This weekend we celebrate Pentecost. This weekend also concludes our emphasis on being Consecrated Stewards. We’ll have a guest preacher who will walk us through our Consecration service where we set aside the gifts of God for His purposes.

We come together not to build an organization or a company. Instead, we’re a family. We’re brothers and sisters in Christ and we contribute to the family budget to make sure we can pay the bills connected to sharing the Gospel in this community and abroad. Greetings in Christ!

This weekend has a lot packed into it. Yesterday (Thursday) the church celebrated Ascension, so that will be reflected in the service this weekend. This weekend is the 7th Sunday of Easter. Culturally it is Mothers’ Day and at Immanuel, we’re in the second week of our 3-week stewardship emphasis. Thematically speaking, Pastor Troup has his work cut out for him since he’s preaching.
