In Preparation…for The Second Sunday After Pentecost 2017

Today we’re going to take a moment to look at the Kyrie that we chant during the liturgy. Kyrie Eleison is Greek for “Lord, Have Mercy!” Kyrie is “Lord” and Eleison is “Have Mercy!” (that’s right, you now know a lick of Greek…Κύριε, ἐλέησον). When we chant this together we’re praying for God’s mercy as we come before him in prayer. We pray for ourselves, for peace, salvation, for the whole world, for unity, and for worship this day as we join together. Enjoy the video and I look forward to seeing you this weekend. In Preparation…for The Holy Trinity 2017

Besides the confession that Jesus Christ is Lord, our confession of The Holy Trinity is something that defines the Christian faith. We don’t worship 3 gods. We don’t worship 1 god who shapeshifts. We worship one God who reveals himself in three persons, “…For the Father is one person, the Son is another, and the Holy Spirit is another.
