In Preparation…for Pentecost 2017
This weekend is Pentecost. Pentecost comes from the Greek word for 50th and celebrates the gift of the Holy Spirit given 50 days after the Resurrection. This was also the founding of the church. It coincides with a Jewish holiday that celebrates the time after Passover. Of course, as Christians we don’t celebrate Passover any longer because Christ is the fulfillment of the law, so we recognize Pentecost as the start of the church 50 days after our Lord rose from the dead giving us the hope of new life in the resurrection on the last day. Check out today’s video as we dig into our Hymn of the Day. You can listen to Hymn 503 O Day Full of Grace too. Continue reading “In Preparation…for Pentecost 2017”
